What is organic?

What is an organic product? Well according to the USDA “100% Organic” products must be made of 100% organic material. Organic labeled products must be made up of no fewer than 95% of organic material. “Made with organic” products must be made up of no fewer than 70% organic material. Anything less than 70% organic material cannot have any organic type of labeling.

Have you ever used microbeads? They’re most common in face cleansers but we supposedly banned by the Microbead-Free Water act. The act banned manufacturing of the beads in 2017 and banned the retail sale of it in 2018. This Act only applies to rinse off products such as toothpaste and exfoliating products such as face cleansers. But they can still can be used in cleaning products such as hand soap, makeup and personal care. This broad act still leaves many loopholes for products to be made with these microbeads.
